MS Insight - Cause-based treatment for peyronies, erectile dysfunction and complex pain
MS Insight is the leading Nordic specialist clinic for shockwave and EMTT for erectile dysfunction and peryronies
Erectile dysfunction, peyronies, chronic pain and persistent disability almost always have a physiological explanation. At MS Insight, we find the cause and use shockwave, EMTT and clinical investigation with ultrasound scans in a targeted way – not as a standard solution.
MS Insight is the Nordic region’s leading private clinic for erectile dysfunction/impotence, peyronies and pelvic pain since 2016. Michael is an internationally recognized shockwave expert, keynote speaker at ISMST and sexologist.
He is also a consultant and trainer for shockwave manufacturers MTS Medical and Elvation Wolf worldwide.
So you can feel in safe hands when you come for examination and treatment in Copenhagen, just like other men and women from all over the Nordic region.

What makes Michael and MS Insight unique to men's sexual health?
When you visit the clinic, you will not be offered a standard solution.
You will be met with a thorough, professional assessment based on your body, your history and your problem.
The approach is simple and direct:
We don’t use buzzwords or ready-made concepts – but clinical experience, conversation and precise investigation.
Whether you present with erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s, incontinence or problems related to the pudendal nerve, the process starts with understanding why the problem has occurred.
Based on a structured assessment, targeted ultrasound scans and dialog with you, you will receive an honest and realistic assessment of your condition:
What can be improved through treatment in the clinic
and what you need to work on yourself to achieve lasting improvement
The goal is not to sell treatment – but to create clarity, direction and real results.
Causes of erectile dysfunction and can it be helped by MS Insight?
Erectile dysfunction can have many causes. For some men, it’s due to stress, lifestyle or hormonal conditions. Others have reduced blood flow, nerve damage, scar tissue in the penis or the effects of illness, diabetes or prostate surgery.
Common to many is that treatment is often started without a precise clarification of the cause. This rarely leads to lasting results.
At MS Insight, treatment of erectile dysfunction always starts with a thorough assessment. Through conversation, clinical examination and targeted ultrasound scans, blood vessels, tissue and nerve function are assessed to identify the specific cause of the erectile dysfunction.
Based on the assessment, you will get a realistic assessment of:
Why your erection is not working optimally
Which treatment options are relevant
What you can do to improve the situation
To provide an overview of the most common mechanisms, I have gathered knowledge and clinical experience in the article “15 causes of erectile dysfunction“, where you can read more about the factors that affect potency and erection.
If the assessment shows that tissue or circulatory stimulation is relevant, treatment may include focused shockwave or Magnetolith (EMTT). These methods are used for both mild and more complex erectile dysfunction, including after diabetes or prostate surgery – but only when they address the identified cause.
The goal is lasting erection improvement based on correct diagnosis – not standard solutions.
What are peyronies / crooked penis / curvature of the penis?
Peyronie’s disease, also known as crooked penis, is a relatively common condition that can affect up to 10% of men in their lifetime. The condition is caused by an inflammatory process in the tissues of the penis where scar tissue (plaque) forms, which can affect shape, pain and erectile function.
The inflammation can involve both connective tissue and the erectile structures in the cavernous bodies. It can cause pain, reduced elasticity and a gradual curvature of the penis, especially during erection.
The best treatment options for Peyronie’s are typically seen in the early stages, as soon as you notice symptoms and up to about 12-15 months after the onset of symptoms, when the tissue changes are not yet fully stabilized.
Typical symptoms of Peyronie’s disease
Pain in the penis, both flaccid and erect
Curvature or bending of the penis during erection
Reduced erection quality
Palpable hard nodule or string in the penis similar to plaque
To correctly assess the condition and choose the right treatment, accurate assessment is essential. At MS Insight, detailed ultrasound scans are performed to assess the location, size and impact of plaque and blood flow.
Based on this assessment, treatment can be targeted. In the early stages, focused shockwave can be used to dampen the inflammatory process and limit the development of scar tissue. In more chronic cases, shockwave can help reduce stiffness in the tissue and in some cases reduce curvature.
Treatment is always tailored to the stage of the disease and the individual man’s symptoms. The goal is to slow progression, reduce discomfort and preserve function – not to offer a standard solution.
Combination therapy with EMTT and Shockwave, why is it more effective?
Combining focused shockwave with EMTT (Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy) can achieve a more comprehensive and in-depth stimulation of tissue, blood vessels and nervous system than shockwave alone.
Shockwave is primarily used to stimulate tissue healing, blood flow and remodeling locally in the treated area. EMTT complements this effect by affecting the tissue at greater depth and activating biological processes, including increased tissue elasticity and release of growth factors that support vascular function and tissue response.
The combination means that:
Both superficial and deeper tissue structures are stimulated
Blood flow and microcirculation are improved more effectively
the biological response becomes stronger and more sustained
For men with more pronounced or complex issues – where options may be limited – this combination treatment may provide a significantly better response than single treatment.
EMTT was introduced by me in Denmark in 2020, and since then I have gained significant clinical experience using the technology, both nationally and internationally, in combination with shockwave.
The goal is not to use as much technology as possible, but to choose the combination that provides the greatest biological effect. With this in mind, combination therapy with EMTT and shockwave is today considered one of the most advanced and promising approaches for erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, incontinence and pelvic pain – when used in a targeted manner and with the right indication.
Erectile dysfunction after prostate cancer surgery - treatment options
Erectile dysfunction is a common consequence of prostate cancer surgery. However, in cases where the nerve tissue around the prostate is fully or partially preserved, there are treatment options that can support the recovery of erectile function.
At MS Insight, focused shockwave and EMTT are used as part of a targeted approach to stimulate nerve tissue, tumor bodies and blood flow. The treatment can be combined with medical treatment or injections when appropriate to achieve the best overall effect.
Timing is crucial. Experience and research suggests that treatment should start early – preferably within the first 1-3 months after surgery. Early intervention can help:
Stimulation of nerve healing
Preserving the function of the tumor bodies
Reduction of scar tissue formation
Reduction of incontinence
My clinical experience shows that the earlier treatment is started, the greater the likelihood of a satisfactory outcome.
The treatment is also used today at Odense University Hospitalwhere, in selected cases, rehabilitation is started just a few weeks after surgery, provided that all cancerous tissue has been removed.
Although the effect is generally greatest with early initiation, I also see improvements in men who start treatment later. These cases typically require a more specialized and individualized approach, which can be offered based on a thorough assessment.
The goal is always to create the best possible conditions for recovery of function – based on correct timing, realistic expectations and targeted treatment.
What does self-esteem mean for erectile function?
Low self-esteem, performance anxiety and stress can have a direct negative impact on both sex drive and erectile function. Many men find that a few unsuccessful sexual experiences develop into a vicious circle, where worry, shame and pressure of expectations themselves become a contributing factor to the problem. This is a problem I often encounter in the clinic.
Erectile dysfunction is rarely either physical or mental alone. In many cases, they affect each other mutually. Therefore, focusing only on the body or only on conversation has limited effect.
As a sexologist, I work with a combined approach where physical treatment – including shockwave when relevant – is supplemented with structured conversations. The focus is on identifying and working with performance pressures, negative thought patterns and past experiences that can perpetuate the problem.
The aim is not therapy in the classic sense, but to give you concrete tools to regain control, confidence and trust in your own functioning. When the mental strain is reduced, both erectile function and sexual desire often improve.
This holistic approach can contribute to more stable results – not only in terms of erections, but also in terms of self-esteem, well-being and relational security.
The pudendal nerve - complex pelvic floor pain
The pudendal nerve has a complex anatomical course through the pelvic floor and when irritated or affected can cause significant pain and discomfort. Symptoms can vary and include pain in the abdomen, pelvis, perineum and genital area as well as functional disorders.
In order to assess whether the pudendal nerve is involved, a thorough examination is essential. This requires an understanding of nerve pathways, tissue involvement and stress patterns in the pelvic floor.
At MS Insight, focused shockwave and EMTT are used as a non-invasive treatment option when the assessment suggests that nerve and tissue impairment can be alleviated through targeted stimulation. The treatment aims to reduce tension, improve tissue conditions and support nerve function – without medical side effects.
Treatment is always customized to the individual and based on a professional assessment of cause and mechanism, not on standard protocols.
