Easy pelvic floor exercises for pelvic floor pain
Easy exercises for pelvic pain if your pelvic floor is very tense
Getting a good start with your pelvic floor exercises is crucial to achieve the best results for pelvic pain. It’s all about gaining proper control over the relevant muscles, so it’s important to start with a precise technique.
Basic technique
Squeeze the rectal opening as if you were holding in a fart. This squeeze activates the pelvic floor muscles needed to improve erectile function. You will probably also feel the squeeze in front of the root of the penis. When you squat, avoid tensing your stomach, buttocks or thighs, and don’t hold your breath. This is where most people make mistakes in training, which can reduce the effectiveness of the exercises.
Exercise 1 Quick squeeze: Lie on your back with your knees slightly apart so you are relaxed and can focus on using the right muscles. Squeeze quickly and forcefully and release the squeeze. Repeat the exercise 10-20 times. Each squeeze should be short and sharp, as if you want to quickly close and open a door. This trains your ability to quickly activate the pelvic floor muscles, which is important for both control and strength, also for relaxing.
Exercise 2 Moderate squeeze with hold: Now squeeze moderately as if you are half holding a fart. Hold the squeeze for 5-10 seconds and then release. The pause between squeezes should be at least as long as the squeeze so that the muscles are not fatigued too quickly. Repeat the exercise 10-20 times. This exercise is designed to increase pelvic floor endurance and reduce pelvic pain so you can hold the tension longer without getting tired.
Exercise 3 Long squat: Try to hold a moderate squat for up to 1 minute or as long as you can without tensing other muscles or holding your breath. Start slowly and gradually build up so you can extend the duration of the squeeze. This will help you build long-term muscle control, which is necessary to maintain an erection over time.
How long should it be done for pelvic pain and lack of muscle control?
By following these steps and exercises regularly for 6-8 weeks, you will gradually build strength and control in your pelvic floor, which can have a positive effect on your pelvic pain. If you are unsure whether you are doing the exercises correctly or if you need further guidance, you are always welcome to contact me. I can help you fine-tune your technique and ensure you get the most out of your training.

I currently work with the manufacturers MTS Medical and Elvation, and I still have equipment from Storz Medical in the clinic. This gives you the most powerful shockwave setup in Denmark, where the equipment for treatment is chosen based on what best suits your situation.
I have experience from thousands of conversations and treatments for erectile dysfunction, peyronies and pelvic pain that are brought into play to increase your quality of life. This is in combination with highly specialized shockwave therapy, EMTT and not least my work as a sexologist, which provides even more tools to help you when pelvic pain controls and the quality of life hits rock bottom.
All treatment and conversations take place in a confidential and safe environment in my clinic on Amager.
What is focused shockwave therapy and why is it a good solution for pelvic pain?
The treatment for pelvic pain is focused shockwave therapy, also known as ESWT (Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy), in which high-frequency sound waves are “shot” into the injured tissue via an application head, triggering a number of biological effects. These include the formation of new blood vessels and breaking down calcification in tendons and tissue.
Focused shockwave treatment for pelvic pain
also helps regulate and reduce inflammation and reduce pain. All of these factors help to speed up the natural healing process and give you a higher quality of life.
Focused shockwave is effective partly because of the intensity of the shockwave and because I control where the energy from the sound waves goes, i.e. where the injury is. With focused shockwave, my setup allows me to stimulate from the surface of the skin down to a depth of 12 cm, safely and effectively. That is, all the way into the depths of the pelvic floor and into the prostate and bladder.
Does the treatment hurt for pelvic pain?
The treatment may feel like pins and needles or mild pain. We always adjust the treatment according to your pain threshold to get the greatest possible effect without discomfort for you and your pelvic pain. Shockwave doesn’t have to hurt to be effective!

Frequently asked questions about pelvic pain and prostatitis
Why choose shockwave and EMTT treatment for chronic pelvic pain syndrome?
Why choose shockwave and EMTT treatment for chronic pelvic pain syndrome?
Pelvic pain can occur in different ways and can have different symptoms. It can be pain around the anus and pelvic floor, it can be deeper around the prostate. It can be pain when urinating. It can also come as radiation to the testicles and the glans can feel cold.
I offer an effective treatment for chronic pelvic pain with shockwave and EMTT, with no side effects, where we can target the treatment to the affected area.
This will improve your quality of life by reducing pain in the affected area, as well as giving you better control over urination if this is also a problem. The treatment can also help with your sexual function, which 4 out of 5 clients experience in the clinic.
Shockwave and EMTT stimulate nerves, muscles and blood vessels in the pelvic area and promote the body’s own healing processes. This is done without the unpleasant side effects that can be experienced with certain antibiotics or powerful painkillers.
I am the only clinic in Denmark that offers several types of focused shockwave and EMTT treatment for pelvic pain, which has proven more effective than either shockwave and exercise alone, which both studies and our previous clients also confirm.
What is the first consultation for chronic pelvic pain?

- A manual examination of the pelvic floor, iliac crest and prostate identifies muscle tension, hairiness and nerve impingement.
- A high-quality ultrasound scan to measure the size of the prostate, check for inflammation and examine the pelvic muscles.
- Uncovering whether the pudendal or inguinal nerve is part of the problem is what will typically be felt in the glans of the penis or testicles.
- We discuss your expectations for treatment and the results we can expect.
- An advanced body composition measurement with the Inbody770 system to reveal your overall health.
- You will receive the first treatment with shockwave and EMTT if you want to start, and instructions for home exercises to ensure a good result.
I will also look at the psychological factors, such as stress or relationship issues, that can affect your health. The aim is for me to create a tailored treatment strategy that improves your quality of life, quickly and effectively.
How is chronic pelvic pain syndrome treated?
The treatment of chronic pelvic pain with focused shockwave and EMTT involves treating the nerves around the lower back, pelvic floor muscles, and prostate with high-frequency sound waves and EMTT. These waves stimulate nerves, muscles and blood vessels in the area, which reduces pain and increases control over the area. The treatment lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and only feels like a light tingling sensation, and the intensity is continuously adapted to you throughout.
There are no risks or known side effects associated with the treatment. You can continue with sexual activity as normal throughout the course of treatment.
Why ultrasound in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain syndrome?
I always perform a thorough ultrasound scan of the pelvic floor during the first treatment. This scan helps us measure the size of the prostate, identify inflammation and examine the pelvic muscles. This ensures that we can target the treatment precisely and adjust the depth of the sound waves. We use the latest and most advanced scanning equipment in the clinic from Sonosite.
How long does it usually take to recover from pelvic pain?
How long it takes to become pain-free from pelvic pain varies depending on the cause and severity. Mild pain can often be relieved within a few weeks with treatment in combination with rest and home exercises. More complex cases, especially those with chronic conditions, can take longer to manage. A personalized treatment plan that includes exercises, shockwave, EMTT and physiotherapy can speed up the healing process. It’s important to follow the treatment plan and have regular follow-ups to monitor progress. I will help you with this in the clinic. A normal course of treatment in the clinic takes place over 4-8 weeks.
