EMTT treatment in Copenhagen

EMTT is an advanced treatment with high-frequency magnetic pulses that work deep in the body without needles, drugs or pain. At MS Insight, EMTT is used for chronic pain, injuries, pelvic pain, nerve impingement, erectile dysfunction and Peyronies – often in combination with focused shockwave and ultrasound to treat the cause more precisely.

I introduced EMTT in Denmark and the Nordics in 2020 and have since worked with the technology at a specialized clinical level. That’s why you don’t get a standard treatment, but an individual assessment and plan where EMTT is used where it makes the most sense for your particular problem.

Advanced Magnetolith – EMTT for pain, inflammation, nerves and deeper tissue

Pain, injury and long-term irritation in the body is rarely just about one muscle, joint or structure. Often there is an interplay between tissue, inflammation, nervous system, stress, blood flow and the body’s ability to repair itself. This is where EMTT can be relevant.

EMTT stands for Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy and is an advanced form of magnetic field therapy in which high-frequency magnetic pulses work deep within the body without needles, drugs or surgery. The treatment is also called Magnetolith therapy because the technology is performed with the MAGNETOLITH system from STORZ Medical.

At MS Insight in Copenhagen, EMTT is not used as a standard package. The treatment is part of a cause-based assessment where the goal is to understand why your pain, tension or functional issues keep returning. In some cases, EMTT is used alone. In other cases, Magnetolith – EMTT is combined with focused shockwave therapy, ultrasound, laser, pelvic floor assessment or neuromodulation if it makes more sense for your particular problem.

You always meet Michael directly in the clinic, so assessment, treatment and follow-up are closely linked from the start. This means that the technology is not the end in itself. It’s used as part of a more precise clinical plan.

Book an assessment at MS Insight in Copenhagen if you want to know if EMTT, Magnetolith treatment or a combined treatment with shockwave and ultrasound is relevant for you.

What is EMTT?

EMTT is short for Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy. It can be described as an advanced, extracorporeal magnetic field treatment. Extracorporeal means that the energy is generated outside the body and sent into the tissue from the outside.

The treatment differs from regular magnet therapy by working with higher energy, higher frequency and a more targeted biological stimulation. The aim is not just to provide relaxation or heat, but to influence tissue cellular activity, pain response, inflammation and local repair processes.

EMTT is mainly used for musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, low back pain, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, tendon injuries, muscle tension, joint problems and chronic pain. At MS Insight, EMTT is also used in more specialized cases where pelvis, nerves, sexual function, connective tissue or deeper tissue irritation play a role.

How does Magnetolith – EMTT work?

Magnetolith – EMTT works with powerful, high-frequency magnetic pulses that can penetrate deep into the body. The magnetic field passes through clothing, skin and superficial tissue and can therefore affect areas that are often difficult to reach with regular manual treatment.

The biological effect depends on the type of problem, the condition of the tissue and the overall treatment strategy. EMTT is typically used to affect pain, inflammation, muscle tension, nerve irritation and tissue healing.

It’s not just where the treatment is given. It’s why it’s given. At MS Insight, EMTT is therefore assessed based on your history, symptoms, function and any findings from examination or ultrasound.

EMTT can be relevant when the body is stuck in a pattern where pain, tension and irritation keep the problem active. This could be after an injury, chronic pain, overuse, osteoarthritis, nerve problems or long-term pelvic and abdominal problems.

What can EMTT treatment be used for?

EMTT treatment can be relevant for several types of pain and functional problems. Treatment is always assessed individually, but at MS Insight, EMTT is used especially for conditions where deeper tissue, inflammation, nerves or long-term irritation play a role.

EMTT for back and lower back pain

Back and lower back pain can be caused by many different mechanisms. It can be muscular protective tension, joint irritation, disc-related discomfort, nerve impingement, hip and pelvic problems or a combination of several factors.

EMTT can be relevant when the pain is deep-seated, when the area responds strongly to strain, or when conventional treatment has not been enough. Magnetic field therapy can be used to reduce irritation and influence the deeper pain response without mechanically stressing the area.

For back and pelvic issues, EMTT can also be combined with pelvic pain treatment, shockwave or neuromodulation if the nervous system plays a clear role.

EMTT for osteoarthritis and joint problems

Osteoarthritis is not just about cartilage. Osteoarthritis pain can also come from the joint capsule, bone, tendons, muscles, connective tissue, inflammation and nervous system sensitivity.

EMTT treatment can be relevant for osteoarthritis and degenerative joint problems where the goal is to reduce pain, reduce irritation and improve function. Examples include knee, hip, shoulder, back, hand or other joint pain.

The treatment is not a substitute for exercise, weight management, appropriate loading or medical assessment when needed. Instead, it can be an important supplement when the body needs more help to get out of a pattern of pain and irritation.

EMTT for sports injuries and overuse injuries

In sports injuries and overuse injuries, the problem is often that the tissue does not have time to adapt to the load it is exposed to. This can lead to irritation in tendons, muscles, tendon attachments, joints and connective tissue.

EMTT can be relevant for both acute and long-term sports injuries, especially when there is pain, inflammation or reduced tissue response. Because the treatment does not mechanically stress the area, it can be used during periods when the tissue is too irritated for harder manual treatment or heavy training.

In many cases, it makes sense to combine EMTT with focused shockwave therapy because the two technologies work differently. Shockwave provides a more mechanical and precise tissue stimulation, while EMTT works deeper with magnetic pulses and cellular response.

EMTT for tendon injuries and inflammation

Tendon and tendonitis can be difficult to treat because pain is often caused by a combination of local tissue irritation, impaired healing response, overuse and altered pain sensitivity.

EMTT treatment can be relevant for tendon injuries, tendon foot irritation, heel pain, Achilles tendon problems, knee tendon problems, hip and groin problems, shoulder pain or elbow problems. Here Magnetolith – EMTT is often used to reduce irritation and support the tissue’s biological response.

If more precise tissue stimulation is needed, treatment can be combined with focused shockwave. If there is any doubt about the condition of the tissue, ultrasound scanning may be relevant because it can give a better picture of what actually needs to be treated.

EMTT for nerve disorders and neurogenic pain

Nerves can feel like burning, shooting, tingling, sleeping or radiating pain. When nerves are irritated, it is rarely enough to just loosen a muscle or treat a single point. Often there is an interaction between nerve tissue, muscle tension, connective tissue, inflammation and the overall sensitivity of the nervous system.

EMTT may be relevant for certain types of nerve disorders, especially when the nerve irritation is related to deeper tissue irritation, pelvic problems, back problems or long-term pain sensitivity.

At MS Insight, EMTT is used in cases where there is suspicion of irritation around the pelvic nerves, the pudendal nerve or related structures. In such cases, treatment is often combined with clinical assessment, shockwave, pelvic floor assessment and possibly neuromodulation.

EMTT for pelvic pain and pelvic floor disorders

Pelvic pain can be complex. The pain can be in the perineum, groin, penis, testicles, abdomen, hips, buttocks or around the anus. Muscles, connective tissue, nerves, pelvic floor, back and stress response often play a role.

EMTT treatment may be relevant when there is deep irritation, nerve impingement, muscle tension or pain response in the pelvic area. At MS Insight, the treatment is not used as an isolated solution, but as part of an overall assessment of pelvis, nerves, tissue and function.

For some patients, EMTT can be combined with pelvic pain management, incontinence treatment, shockwave, pelvic floor assessment or neuromodulation.

EMTT for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s

At MS Insight, EMTT is also used in specialized courses in men’s health. These include erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, torticollis, pelvic pain and reduced sexual function.

Here EMTT is not a miracle cure and not a standard solution. It is used when the assessment indicates that inflammation, nerve impingement, pelvic floor, tissue tension or deeper biological stimulation may be relevant.

For erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease, EMTT will often be assessed together with ultrasound, focused shockwave and a more thorough assessment of vessels, tissues, connective tissue, plaque, pelvic floor and nervous system.

Read more about EMTT in Peyronie’s disease.

EMTT and shockwave – why the combination often makes sense

EMTT and shockwave are two different technologies.

Shockwave is a pressure wave treatment where mechanical energy is used to stimulate tissue very precisely. It can be relevant for tendons, scar tissue, connective tissue, vessels, nerves, plaque and areas with impaired tissue response.

EMTT is a magnetic field treatment where high-frequency magnetic pulses work deep in the body without mechanical stress on the tissue. It can be relevant when there is pain, inflammation, deeper irritation, nerve sensitivity or a need for broader biological stimulation.

At MS Insight, EMTT and shockwave are combined especially when the problem has both a local tissue component and a deeper pain or inflammation component. This can be chronic pain, sports injuries, tendon injuries, pelvic pain, nerve disorders, Peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction.

This is where the difference between a standard treatment and a specialized assessment becomes important. The question is not just whether you should have EMTT. The question is where EMTT fits into the overall plan.

Why choose EMTT at MS Insight?

In many places, EMTT is described as a general treatment for pain. At MS Insight, the technology is used more specifically.

Michael introduced EMTT technology in Denmark and the Nordics in 2020 and has since worked with Magnetolith – EMTT in clinical programs, teaching and developing treatment strategies. This means you don’t just get access to a machine. You get an assessment of how the technology should be used, whether it should be combined with other methods, and what expectations are realistic in your case.

MS Insight is distinguished by the combination of specialized assessment and advanced technology:

  • EMTT / Magnetolith treatment
  • Focused shockwave
  • Radial shockwave
  • Ultrasound scanning
  • Laser treatment
  • Pelvic floor assessment
  • Neuromodulation
  • Specialized experience in men’s health, pelvic pain, nerves and deeper tissue issues

The goal is not to use the most technology possible. The goal is to use the right technology at the right time and for the right problem.

How does an EMTT treatment work?

An EMTT treatment is simple, gentle and non-invasive. You lie or sit fully clothed while the applicator is placed over the area to be treated. The magnetic field is sent into the tissue and the treatment requires no needles, anesthesia or recovery.

Many people describe the treatment as a slight throbbing, tingling, pulsing or warmth in the area. Others feel very little during the treatment itself. It is normal for the experience to vary depending on the area, intensity and tissue response.

After treatment, you can usually go about your day as normal. For some issues, there may be a short-term reaction in the tissue, but EMTT is generally a gentle treatment.

How many EMTT treatments should you have?

The number of treatments depends on the problem, duration, tissue condition and whether EMTT is used alone or together with shockwave, laser, ultrasound or neuromodulation.

For more acute issues, a shorter course may be enough. Chronic pain, long-term inflammation, nerve disorders, osteoarthritis, pelvic pain or complex functional problems often require a more systematic approach.

At MS Insight, a program doesn’t start with a fixed number of treatments for everyone. It starts with an assessment. Only when the cause and load pattern are better understood does it make sense to choose a treatment strategy. But usually between 6-12 treatments are given.

Is EMTT safe?

EMTT is a non-invasive treatment and is well tolerated by most people. There are no medications, injections or surgery involved.

However, there may be situations where EMTT should not be used. This includes pacemakers, certain electronic implants, pregnancy or other conditions where strong magnetic fields can be problematic. Therefore, safety and contraindications are always assessed before treatment.

If you are unsure whether EMTT treatment is relevant or safe for you, you should always get an assessment before starting treatment.

Who is EMTT particularly relevant for?

EMTT may be relevant to you if you have pain, irritation or functional problems that have not responded adequately to conventional solutions. This could be chronic pain, back pain, low back pain, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, tendon injuries, inflammation, nerve problems, pelvic pain or problems where the body seems stuck in a pattern of pain and tension.

It can also be relevant if you want a gentle solution without medication, injections or surgery, but still want a more active and technologically advanced approach than regular strain relief or manual treatment.

At MS Insight, EMTT is always assessed based on the overall cause. That’s why the initial assessment isn’t just about where you hurt. It’s about why the problem started, why it persists and what combination of treatments can best move your body forward.
