Crumb treatment

Curvature of the penis means that the penis curves noticeably during an erection. For some men, the curvature is congenital and unchanged throughout life. For others, it occurs later as a result of Peyronie’s disease, where plaque or scar tissue changes can affect shape, pain, erection and sex life.

At MS Insight, we specialize in the assessment and non-invasive treatment of crumbling when the problem is related to Peyronie’s. This can include ultrasound scanning, focused shockwave and in selected cases EMTT and home exercises.

Curvature can be caused by congenital curvature or Peyronie’s disease.

For Peyronie’s, focused shockwave may be a relevant non-invasive option, especially for pain and plaque-related tissue changes. Recent studies also report improvement of curvature in many men, but treatment should always be assessed individually.

Congenital crumbling or Peyronie’s disease?

The most important clarification is whether the curvature has always been there or if it has appeared later.

An innate curvature is typical:

  • Present from the youth.
  • Stable over time.
  • No plaque or hard areas.
  • Not accompanied by new pain.

Peyronies are typically characterized by:

  • New or increasing curvature.
  • Pain during erection.
  • A hard plaque, nodule or strand.
  • Constriction, hourglass shape or shortening.
  • Possible erectile dysfunction.

What is crumbling?

Curvature is a common word for a penis that bends or curves noticeably during an erection. The curvature can go upwards, downwards or sideways and can vary greatly in degree.

In some men, the curvature is due to a congenital anatomical variation. It typically appears from adolescence and does not change significantly over time. In others, the curvature develops later in life, often along with pain, plaque, shortening or altered erection. In these cases, it may be Peyronie’s disease.

Curvature is therefore not a single diagnosis. It is a description of a curvature that must be understood in the context of development, pain, erection and function.

When should a curved penis be assessed?

A curved penis should be assessed when it affects your function or when there are signs that something has changed.

This is especially true if:

  • The curvature is new or becoming more pronounced.
  • You have pain with erection.
  • You feel a hard area or plaque.
  • The penis has become notched or hourglass shaped.
  • Intercourse has become difficult.
  • The erection has become less stable.
  • You are unsure if treatment or surgery might be relevant.

It’s not necessarily a sign that you need treatment. But an assessment allows you to understand the situation before making a decision.

Crumbs, sex and erectile dysfunction

For some men, curvature is primarily a visual concern. For others, it makes intercourse painful, difficult or impossible. Some also find that erections become worse because the penis hurts, because the deformity affects function, or because insecurity is more prevalent during sex.

When assessing curvature, it is therefore relevant to look at more than the degree of curvature. It should also be assessed:

  • Whether the erection is working satisfactorily.
  • Whether penetration is possible without pain.
  • Whether there is anxiety, avoidance or loss of sexual confidence.
  • Whether the problem is due to Peyronies.
  • Whether a treatment can realistically make a meaningful difference.

How is crumbling assessed at MS Insight?

At MS Insight, the assessment starts with your experience: When did the curvature occur? Has it changed? Does it hurt? Does it affect sex or erection? Have you felt a hard change?

After this, the assessment can include:

  • Clinical examination.
  • Documentation of the curvature with images at erection, if applicable.
  • Assessment of plaque or hard areas.
  • Assessment of erectile function.
  • Ultrasound scan if plaque, calcification or Peyronie’s is suspected.
  • Conversation about relevant treatment goals and expectations.

It’s not about choosing the most comprehensive treatment. It’s about choosing the right direction based on the problem you actually have.

Non-invasive treatment for Peyronie’s c crumbs non-invasively

If crumbling is due to Peyronie’s, non-invasive treatment options may be relevant, especially when there is pain, plaque, tissue changes or affected function.

Focused shockwave can be included as a targeted treatment for the affected area. The treatment has long been used for Peyronie’s pain, and recent research shows promising results for plaque-related changes and curvature in some men.

At MS Insight, depending on the assessment, a course may include:

  • Focused shockwave targeting relevant tissue areas.
  • EMTT as a complementary technology in selected courses.
  • Ultrasound scan if plaque or calcification is suspected.
  • Guidance on traction or vacuum when applicable.
  • Assessment of erectile function if erection is affected.
  • Honest advice on urological assessment if surgery should be considered.

The aim is not to promise that every curvature will disappear. The aim is to target the options available and assess whether treatment can reduce discomfort and improve function in your situation.

Shockwave at crumbs and Peyronies

When curvature is due to Peyronie’s, the curvature is associated with a tissue change in the penis. Here, focused shockwave can be relevant as a non-invasive treatment, especially when pain or plaque-related changes are present.

Recent clinical studies have reported:

  • Significant pain relief in many treated patients.
  • Improvement of curvature in some men.
  • Plaque-related improvements in some patients.
  • Possible improvement of erection function in some men with concurrent erectile dysfunction.

The results do not mean that shockwave can guarantee a straight penis. For Peyronies, the effect can vary considerably and treatment should always be assessed based on disease stage, plaque, curvature, function and your own goals.

What can you realistically expect from treatment?

When treating crumbling caused by Peyronie’s, it’s important to distinguish between what we can target and what no serious clinic should promise in advance.

For some men, a non-invasive approach can help:

  • Less pain during erection.
  • Less troublesome or softer plaque.
  • Better comfort and function during sex.
  • Improving curvature in selected patients.
  • Greater clarity on whether further treatment is relevant.

The outcome depends on the stage of the disease, degree of curvature, plaque, calcification, erectile function and how long the change has been present, among other factors.

For stable and significant curvature where sex is difficult, surgery for curvature can be a relevant part of the overall consultation.

Specialized treatment of crumbling without side effects

As a specialist in penile curvature, I offer a targeted treatment that gets to the root of the problem. Based on thousands of cases, I combine advanced diagnostics with focused shockwave to correct the curvature and eliminate pain – without surgery. Every week I help men achieve less curvature and better sexual function.

  1. Curvature diagnostics
The first step is to understand your curvature. We review your history and do an advanced ultrasound scan of the penis. Here I locate the exact piece of scar tissue (plaque) that is pulling the penis crooked and assess the blood flow. This ensures that we target exactly where the curvature starts.
  2. Plan against crookedness
No two crookednesses are the same. Based on the scan and an InBody body analysis, I choose the shockwave technology that best breaks down your particular tissue type. We create a plan that takes into account both the physical changes and your lifestyle to ensure the best results.
  3. Treating the tissue
A typical anti-crumple course consists of 8-15 sessions. We treat 1-2 times a week with a combination of focused shockwave and EMTT. The aim is to soften the hard tissue so that the penis can give way and straighten out again. Many people notice the first improvements after just 4-6 weeks.
  4. Follow-up & Results
Correcting a crumpling takes time as the tissue needs to heal. Even if treatment stops, the body continues to work for up to 9 months. I follow you closely during the first year with regular follow-up and new scans to ensure that you reach your goal of a better sex life.

Traction, vacuum and home deployment

For Peyronie’s, traction or vacuum can be part of a conservative treatment program for some men. The aim may be to work on elasticity, length, deformity or function over time.

Such measures should be chosen based on an assessment of the problem. A new, painful or rapidly developing curvature should not be treated with random exercises or devices without first being assessed.

When is surgery relevant?

Surgery may be relevant when the curvature is stable, significant and makes intercourse very difficult or impossible. Surgery should not be the first answer to every curvature, but neither should it be hidden as an option if it is the most relevant path.

Before deciding on surgery, you should typically have clarification:

  • Whether the curvature is congenital or due to Peyronie’s.
  • Whether the condition is stable.
  • How much the function is affected.
  • How the erection works.
  • What expectations you have for treatment.
  • Whether non-invasive options are still relevant.

Why choose MS Insight for crumbs?

When a penis curls, it’s easy to be met with simplistic answers: either that it doesn’t matter or that one particular treatment is the solution. At MS Insight, we work more precisely.

You will receive an assessment where cause, function, pain, plaque, erection and your own goals are considered in context. Ultrasound is used when it provides relevant information. Focused shockwave and EMTT can be included when deemed professionally relevant, and if surgical assessment should be considered, this will also be clearly stated.

You’ll meet Michael directly in the clinic and have a confidential dialog about a problem that is often difficult to talk about, but deserves to be taken seriously.

Frequently asked questions about crumbling

Are crumbs always Peyronies?

No, it isn’t. A curved penis can be congenital or due to Peyronie’s disease. New or increasing curvature should be assessed, especially if pain or plaque is also present.

Should crumbling always be treated?

The answer is no. If the curvature is stable and does not affect sex or cause pain, treatment is not necessarily relevant.

Can crumbling be treated with shockwave?

If curvature is due to Peyronie’s, focused shockwave may be relevant in selected men. The treatment targets pain and plaque-related changes and recent studies have reported improvement of curvature in some patients.

Can the treatment make the penis completely straight?

It can’t be promised. Some men may experience an improvement in curvature, while others primarily experience pain relief or changes in plaque and function. Expectations should be assessed individually.

Can plaque on crumbs be reduced?

In Peyronie’s, studies have reported plaque reduction or softening in some patients after shockwave therapy. It is not possible to promise that plaque will disappear.

Can ultrasound be used for crumbling?

Ultrasound may be relevant if Peyronies, plaque or calcification is suspected. The scan is used as part of the overall assessment.

When should surgery be considered?

Surgery may be relevant for stable and significantly function-limiting curvature, especially if intercourse is very difficult or impossible.
