Mens health course Liverpool

Ultrasound scanning and advanced diagnostics in men’s sexual health – I’m back in the clinic after an inspiring weekend in Liverpool, where I attended the Advanced Men’s Health course with Venn Healthcare. The course, organized by Yves De Vos and Gerard Greene, provided an in-depth and informed introduction to the treatment of erectile dysfunction, pelvic pain and Peyronie’s disease. It was a great opportunity to refine my skills, exchange knowledge with other experts and share my own expertise in penile ultrasound scanning.

Over the years, I have specialized in advanced ultrasound diagnostics of the penis and pelvic floor, which has made a significant difference in the treatment of men with erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease and other related disorders. In many parts of the world, this type of scanning is still not standard, and this is one of the major challenges in men’s sexual health.

Ultrasound scanning provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Assess blood flow in the penis and identify vascular causes of erectile dysfunction.
  • Visualize Peyronie’s plaque and assess the severity of deformation in the penis.
  • Analyze the musculature and structures of the pelvic floor, which is essential for the treatment of pelvic pain and related disorders.
  • Monitor treatment response over time to ensure patients get the best possible outcomes.

During the course in Liverpool, I had the pleasure of presenting some of the more advanced ultrasound scans that I perform in the clinic. These scans, which few places in the world offer at a similar level, generated a lot of interest among the participants. I hope that I was able to inspire more practitioners to integrate ultrasound scanning into their diagnostic practice and raise the bar for how we approach men’s sexual health.

Why is ultrasound so important in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease?

One of the biggest challenges in treating men’s sexual health is the often superficial approach to diagnostics. Many patients are prescribed medication or recommended treatments without a thorough investigation into the root cause of their symptoms. This results in ineffective treatments and frustrated patients.

With advanced ultrasound scanning, we can go one step deeper and gain a much more precise understanding of the nature of the problem. For example:

  • For erectile dysfunction, we can determine whether the problem is due to a lack of arterial blood supply, venous leakage or a combination of both. This is crucial for choosing the right treatment strategy.
  • In Peyronie’s disease, we can identify and map plaque formation and assess the degree of fibrosis and calcification. This makes it possible to predict disease progression and choose the most effective treatment.
  • For chronic pelvic pain, we can assess pelvic floor muscle tone and detect any dysfunctional patterns that may contribute to pain and sexual problems.

A passion for raising the bar in men’s health

It was a great pleasure to participate in this course and exchange knowledge with some of the best practitioners in the field. At the same time, it was great to see old friends and expand the network with new professional contacts who share the same passion for improving men’s health.

My commitment to ultrasound diagnostics and shockwave treatments is driven by a vision to provide the best possible treatment for my patients. By using the most advanced diagnostic technologies, we can create better treatment pathways that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

I look forward to continuing this journey, further developing my techniques and contributing to a future where men’s sexual health is taken far more seriously than it often is today.

Thank you to Yves De Vos, Gerard Greene and everyone else involved for an inspiring course. I look forward to bringing the latest knowledge back to the clinic and continuing to work to improve the treatment of men’s sexual health!

Get a no-obligation clarifying conversation today

Are you unsure about what’s causing your symptoms, or whether a specialized treatment program at our clinic in Copenhagen would be right for you? If so, you can start with a brief, confidential consultation. During this consultation, we’ll assess whether your symptoms align with the areas I specialize in at MS Insight and determine what the next appropriate step might be.

The clarifying conversation is not a full consultation, diagnosis or treatment plan. It’s for those who want a serious assessment of whether it makes sense to proceed with a more thorough examination, ultrasound scan and individual plan.
